NORDIC PLAYLIST – www.nordicplaylist.com
The Nordic Playlist is the first pan-Nordic music website, created to facilitate the discovery of the most recent trends and releases from the Nordic region. The website features sounds from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, the Faroe Islands, Åland and Greenland through artist curated playlists, themed editorial playlists, chart music, DJ mixes and special features on contemporary music.
A hit filled playlist, compiling all of the Top 10 Nordic songs from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden
On a weekly basis, Trenda is updated with the latest and hottest releases in the North, providing a one-stop shop for the best selling and most streamed songs from Nordic artists, producers and songwriters.
Magma is an invitation to embark on an adventure through the multifaceted landscape of sounds and aesthetics inherent in the Nordic contemporary Music scene.
Specially curated editions offer up a personal glimpse into the minds and artistic practices of some of the region’s most prominent composers and Festival Directors strongly affiliated with the Nordic contemporary music scene, who present a wide array of content, ranging from interviews and introductions to works, to a ‘curated section’ of items of particular and significant interest.
An online quiz series entitled the Magma: Kontrapunkt Tribute was produced in collaboration with the Nordic Embassies in Berlin in 2015, creating a pilot series of a Nordic focussed quiz concept which can be viewed here.
The heart of the website is the Nordic Playlist itself – a hand-picked collection of songs, curated by some of the most influential musicians and tastemakers from the Nordic countries. Over 90 artists have taken the reigns since the site’s launch in January 2014, including MØ, Of Monsters & Men, Aurora, Jaakko Eino Kalevi, First Aid Kit, Eivør and Nive Nielsen who have each picked their two favourite songs from each Nordic country, thus creating their very own Nordic Playlist.
The Nordic Playlist has also taken the leap from the online world into a live setting at various events throughout the region with Radio pop up bars at Iceland Airwaves, by:Larm and Berlin Festival creating live-streamed broadcasts from prominent radio DJs from the region as well as Huw Stephens from BBC Radio 1 and Jon Hillcock from XFM.
