Confessions by duetting dream team Teitur and Nico Muhly has been announced as an addition to the SPOT Festival line up!
SPOT Festival is an annual celebration of new music that takes place in the Danish city of Århus every spring. Hosted at a number of venues around the city centre, SPOT is renowned for showcasing music of all types and styles – from brand new, emerging artists to new projects and collaborations from seasoned musicians – and a collaboration that falls into the latter category has just been announced as an addition to the 2017 programme!
Long time friends and collaborators Teitur (Faroe Islands) and Nico Muhly (US) joined forces in 2016 to release a collaborative record called Confessions. At the time of its release, former Nordic Playlist curator Teitur was quoted describing the inspiration behind the record as follows:
“We came up with this premise of boring videos, home videos… It was a time when everyone was posting these meaningless videos. It was just fascinating when we started watching them… The more you watched them the more you started to wonder, ‘What is behind this? Why are people doing this?’ They are really saying, ‘This is really beautiful, this is really sick, this is me,’ people confessing things. And that gave us the title for the record.”
The collaboration has since been brought to life in various forms including through videos and live outings, with the pair’s opus set to head to SPOT where Confessions will be performed by a baroque orchestra consisting of four musicians from Århus Symphony Orchestra.
Confessions was released back in October 2016 by record label Nonesuch, and you can hear the album in its entirety just below. And if you like what you hear, make sure to grab a ticket to SPOT Festival – taking place in Århus, Denmark between the 4 – 7th May 2017.
