We invited Finnish singer Venior to have a chat in the cosy Nordic Playlist caravan at Sweden’s ‘Where’s the Music?’ Festival!
Venior is a 21-year-old singer and songwriter born in Finland but currently living in London. For the last couple of years, Venior has been travelling around the world – from LA to Stockholm, Berlin to Helsinki – producing music and collaborating with other songwriters, producers and DJs.
The first taste of Venior’s material, the bubbly ‘Monkey With Me’ was released via Soundcloud back in April 2015, but the first official single ‘Sugar Rush’ saw the light of day a couple of months later. The song showcases Venior’s amazing voice and her ear for huge pop choruses, a special kind of electronic pop with splashes of hip-hop tones and powerful, playful lyrics.
Kicking 2016 off in the best way possible, Venior launched a brand new single in the form of ‘Na Na Na’ and also had the honour of opening up for US sensation Angel Haze at her Helsinki live date. The up-and-coming artist was also awarded ‘Breakthrough Artist of the Year’ by Finnish radio station YleX recently.
Sitting down with Venior during her busy schedule at ‘Where’s the Music?’, we learned about the inspiration behind her becoming a singer and talked about the excellent video for ‘Na Na Na’ which features some of Venior’s own artwork.
